Seven (7) courses in the field of emphasis, four of which must be history courses at or above the 300-level. With written approval of the advisor, a student may take two of these courses outside the Department of History. At least one of these courses has to be on non-Western history before 1700 not including HIST 103. |

*Three credits of HIST 464 or HIST 468 may fulfill the seminar requirement when, and only when, it is taught as a seminar course. Independent study projects and individual internships do not fulfill the seminar requirement. |
